Cameron

Full-time Airline Pilot and Mr. Mom.

You're sure to find him downloading collective soul to his new iPod (which he claims absolutely has to be upgraded to a 30 gig), watching "best of..." Saturday night live DVDs, golfing, playing guitar, rewiring some electrical outlet to make our living enviornment more convenient, and making his famous sweet pork. Cameron's favorite past time is making sure Colby is dressed to kill.

Cameron is currently flying for SkyWest Airlines as a CRJ first officer. This might be a thing of the past since he now has enough seniority to upgrade to captain. He's not sure he's ready to give up choosing his schedule just to go back to SkyWest telling him exactly where and when. But then again, that 30 gig iPod would hold a lot of collective soul...

As mentioned before, Cameron is lucky enough to spend 2 full days alone with his kids. I think those kids are pretty darn lucky. They know their dad probably better than anyone else. Cameron even cooks dinner and makes sure the house is clean when mom comes home. Pretty impressive, I know. He also juggles planning and carrying out Pack Meetings for cub scouts.

You're sure to find me cleaning poop out of pink clothes, buying and selling things on the internet so that I can go shopping (on the internet when the kids are asleep of course- have you tried shopping with 2 small kids lately?), trying to finish the last few pages of my book in time for book club, starting and never finishing another project for the house, and watching LOST on DVD at 1:00 in the morning. My favorite past-time is cuddling with one or both of my children.

I'm fortunate to work part-time for Davis School District 2 days a week at Morgan Elementary as a Speech-Language Pathologist. For the first time since Colby's been born, I'm actually loving work. It's a nice break from running after kids and a way to feel like I'm contributing a little of something else to the world. What's even better? Cameron is lucky enough to play Mr. Mom for those 2 days. Talk about having empathy for you wife! I also do a little speech therapy on the side to cover those wild internet shopping sprees.

I am currently the 1st couselor in our Young Women organization. While incredibly time-consuming, I wouldn't want to be doing any other church calling. We have 9 awesome young women who are pretty solid in the church, making my calling relatively easy. The hardest part about young womens is trying to remember that I'm not 16 anymore.

Kara

The baby of the family (so far). There's no doubt, Kara will be one tough chick with all she has to endure from her big brother. Can you be tough and girly at the same time? If her mom keeps dressing her up in pink ribbons and bows, the tough image might be hard to keep up. It's no wonder Kara sleeps 10+ hours every night, trying to keep up with Colby- she's gets worn out just watching him.

You're sure to find her with a spit-up soaked shirt and her tongue sticking out, but always a grin on her face. Her favorite past time is, yes, pooping through her clothes.

It has been a blast having a little girl in our family. She has been one of those coveted "easy babies." She's had her daddy wrapped around her tinly little finger since the moment he laid eyes on her. The best thing about being Kara's mom? She still loves to cuddle.

Colby

Our firstborn child, otherwise known as "wildman." Watch-out come about 7:00 pm at the Richins household. Yes, Colby has inherited the night-time hypers (we'll let you guess from whom) which is actually quite entertaining until it's time to go to bed, that is.

He's at such a fun age as he comes up with new, clever things to say almost every day. His latest and most frequent phrases..."No mommy, Colby busy!" or "Shute, dang it!"

You're sure to find Colby riding his horsy (or anything long and skinny) saying "Giddeup!", hugging his little sister "Tewa," or busy bumping his head, or skinning his knee as a result of jumping and/or running everywhere he goes. Colby's favorite past-time is standing on the stool helping mom in the kitchen. Oh no, if this persists to be a hobbie, Cameron just might have to go out and stock up on more guns and tools.

Colby has always been a happy little boy. His first smile was when he was 4 days old and he hasn't stopped since. The best part about being Colby's mom? When you come home from work and he runs to his daddy saying, "Daddy, mommy's home. Daddy, mommy's home!"

Most of the cousins came to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood and check out the famous "scary" house down the street. We all know that everyone really came for Cameron's famous sweet pork burritos. Cafe Rio doesn't stand a chance next to Cameron's cooking.

Halloween 2006

Halloween continues to get funner and funner as Colby and Kara get older. I only wish I didn't have to tell Colby that the "Halloween Candy Fairy" is going to make an important visit. A visit in which his beloved Halloween candy will be exchanged for a fun toy. If only Halloween candy was good for you...

We practiced saying "trick-or-treat" for days before Halloween which payed off as Colby made his way to each door begging for candy. Kara thought trick-or-treating was a blast as she fell asleep in the stroller in the first 5 minutes.

Ty walked into Kara's room as she was getting dressed. Kara told Ty to close his eyes and Ty said, "No! Eyes! Anna!" (Anna is what Ty calls Kara-March 2011)

Ty's latest: "down-me" (at least 50 times a day. It means he wants up on his chair, down from his chair, help down the stairs, for me to pick him up, for me to put him down...), "apple-now" (means apple. He puts the word "now" at the end of almost everything), "keekoo-now" (means cookie), "donu" (sounds like donut and means candy),"no" (very emphatically and to almost everything I say), "mil" (means milk and any other liquid drink), "nee-nee" (means blankie), "daydoo" (thank-you). These are just the most popular words among his ever-growing vocabulary. He can repeat anything you tell him to repeat and he has just started combining 2 words consistently the last few weeks. If Kara really wants to be persuasive, she will follow a request or command with, "my daddy be so mad." For example, if she is trying to tell me to not touch her sleeping baby, she'll say, "Don't touch my baby, she sleeping. My daddy be so mad. Don't touch my baby." The wrath of Cameron is pretty scary so I usually obey when I hear that threat.

Kara's latest phrase of choice is "booby head." She calls Colby a booby head at least 10 times a day and "I want my daddy" was once quickly followed by, "daddy booby head." I am proud to say she has not yet labeled me a booby head.

Kara is really into tatlling lately. When I found her in the kitchen with 2 decks of cards scattered across the floor, she pointed to the mess while jabbering something that ended in "Grandpa." Poor Grandpa is getting blamed for messes now.
I heard Kara calling/whining for me and when I went to get her she said, "Colby. I mad!" with the angriest look ever. It was so hilarious to hear that come out of her mouth. (April 2008)
