The Late Show

I'm so excited that I have to tell somebody. There's nothing like mass communication to the dozens and dozens of you reading, through blogging.

We won David Letterman tickets today! I say "won" because they choose your name from an online application and then call you. If you answer a trivia question correctly, you win. Well, I've watched 2 episodes in the last few days (well, really the last few years) in anticipation of a phone call. They did me no good. The question was, "Where does Rupert work?" Thanks to a conversation with my brother (who has also won tickets for the same day), I amazingly knew the answer which really is quite remarkable given my memory condition. And it's weird because my brother didn't tell me anything else about the show except this Rupert dude who Letterman visits quite regularly. Looks like we were meant to attend the show. Now, if only we can get ourselves on that plane...

Goodbye Mandy!

These are some of my speech friends. No, we're not in a club that makes speeches or participates in debates or anything, but we do get together once-a-month (roughly) to talk about Speech Pathology. Alright, I'll be serious. It's turned into sort of a dinner group where we take turns hosting and we eat glorious food and chat and then maybe get around to talking about speech, all while our kids run around like crazy people. Our "study group" is awesome and I really do learn a ton from these incredibly smart women. It's been fun to see everyone gain all this experience in our field as well as turn into mothers (Kelly is the last to join us and is due in September...I think...yay Kelly!) since graduation 5 years ago. And this month, Mandy and her family are taking on a new adventure and moving to Germany. Germany! We wish you the best of luck Mandy and hope the move and adjustment go well!

It's been a busy few weeks. And I still managed to blog. Can't say my house is clean, but atleast I'm all blogged up.

KARA IS TWO!

Our little Kara turned 2 today. What a blessing she has been in our family. She is mellow, yet seriously sassy. Here are a few of her favorites:

1. She loves her binky. I thought I wanted to get rid of it by her 2nd birthday, but it's not happening.
2. She loves dolls and stuffed animals. She almost always has one in her arms at all times.
3. She loves to eat. "nanies," (bananas), rice, vegetables, you name it, she loves it.
4. She loves her brother. She mimics everything he does including getting in trouble.
5. She is tough. When she gets hurt, she rarely cries.
6. She loves to look at books. Her favorite right now is "Click clack moo" which she tries to read herself by saying "ki ka mooooo" over and over.
7. She loves her daddy. That's all I have to say about that. I'm not jealous or anything.

I suppose it's okay to brag about your children on their birthday, right? We think she's an absolute darling and we love her so much. I just can't believe how lucky we are to have such incredible children.

Here are a few things about Cameron that you may not know that make him unique.

1. Cameron can multi-task quite well. He was once caught reading a book while driving to the airport. Unfortunately, he was caught by our neighbor. Our neighbor was driving with his boss to Salt Lake when his boss said, "Look, that guy is reading while he drives!" Our neighbor said, "No way," and as he looked closer, he realized it was Cameron. Busted. I choose to believe that he would no longer do such foolish things.

2. Cameron is a good musician. He can learn a brand-new song on the guitar in only a few minutes.

3. Cameron rarely complains. This is hard to relate with since it's so foreign to me, but definitely appreciated.

4. He has a goofy, unique sense of humor. He likes to keep things light and airy and gets along best with people who are always joking around.

5. He will go great distances to get a chili cheese corn dog, found only at select gas stations.

6. He will do ANYTHING for his family or a good friend. He is incredibly loyal.

7. Cameron has a gift of not worrying. He would rather spend his time doing something more worthwhile.

8. He has great perspective on life. He always seems to know what is important and what is not worth dwelling on.

9. He is very laid back, and at the same time, very passionate about a few select things. The Utah Jazz. Collective Soul. Guitar. Dogs.

I am one lucky women. Happy birthday, babe. I love you!

Women's Conference

Sometimes you just need to get away. It was pretty easy to convince Cameron to take time off work so I could go to Women's Conference because I would surely come home a better wife and mother, right? I won't mention to him how the morning after I got home, I yelled at our children as if I hadn't attended any classes at all. It's looking like the application part will take some time...
A bunch of us neighbors went down for the 2 days. We had a blast getting spiritually uplifted, fasting (not by choice since they give you no time to eat between classes) and getting to know each other better- definitely a choice group of women I must say! Definitely time well spent away from home.

I just had to share a cute moment.

Yesterday, Kara fell and skinned her knees. In the car on the way home she was crying about her owee and we heard Colby ask, "Kara, do you want me to hold your hand?" We looked back to see them holding hands across the back seat. Kara continued to cry and then we heard Colby ask, "Do you want me to sing you a song? How about rockabye?" He couldn't remember the words to rockabye so then he asked, "What about Twinkle Twinkle?" He then proceeded to sing the whole song until Kara stopped crying.

Holy cow! Can you believe this is just 5 days later? I am so pleased with how he's healing up. Thank you Doctor Doll!!! Colbs got his stitches out this morning, without a flinch. He's officially a tough guy now.
