Fun with Liquid Nitrogen. Jason entertained everyone by freezing flower petals, racket balls and marshmallows.

And this picture is for everyone who made fun of me for taking it. See. I told you it would turn out perfectly. A clear picture of a Liquid Nitrogen droplet on the floor.

Thank you Colby...

...for saving me a couple bucks at the Salon. What you see is indeed, a pile of hair. Kara's hair. It's a little hard to see since it blends in with our carpet. One of the many strategic maneuvers by Colby in accomplishing this task, I believe.

Here's a close look at the amount of hair

I've known for quite some time that this incident was inevitable. Every kid does it, right? Especially if they have a little sister? Colby's cousin Mia beet him to it 3 times I think. I was beginning to believe that maybe, just maybe, Colby might spare me this little bit of grief since he's given me my fair share of trouble. But it's not like him to skip such an important step in child development. The good news is, Kara's hair was in piggies and he just gave them a little trim. It's actually not half bad. When I saw the evidence, I screamed twice and put Colby in his room. When I surveyed the damage, I realized that it could have been SO MUCH WORSE. And I was actually going to take Kara in soon to get her first trim anyway.

He did manage to get a little bit of her bangs that I was working really hard to grow out. I have to say that it actually looks a little better than when her bangs were constantly in her eyes, but now we gotta start all over.

I think he's been planning this for a while. Maybe by catching a few "E" TV programs, or flippin' through a few hair magazines.
Cameron came home about 10 minutes after it happened and as we were both laughing about it, Kara started laughing (Colby was still in his room) and saying that her new hair cut was funny. Probably not the best move on our part. I have a feeling Kara won't wait quite so long to take her turn...

Sardine and Logan Canyon

The last three years, my mom and I have made it a tradition each Fall to drive up to Logan to see the changing colors. This is another thing I look forward to to all year and this year we weren't disappointed. We drive up Sardine Canyon, eat lunch at Juniper Take-Out (my very favorite place to eat in Logan- their stuffed baked potatoes are to die for), make our way up Logan Canyon, and then back down with a quick stop at Gossner's cheese factory for samples, icecream and a stock of economy cheese. Love it. And here is what we saw.

Pack's Pumpkin Patch

Last week we made our annual trip to Pack's to pick out pumpkins. I look forward to this outing every year. I can't get enough of the autumn colors, crisp air and the fun things to do.

Take a Breath

For all of you on the edge of your seat (and for myself in the future) wondering how my life is going amidst some somewhat stressful events, I am here to update.

I played the piano for the first time in Relief Society last Sunday. What can I say? I'm pretty much just a natural musician. I pretty much just rocked the relief society room. Alright. Really. It actually went pretty well. I gave myself the easiest hymns in the hymn book to start out with so I could get some confidence under my belt and it worked. My nerves didn't get the best of me! What a relief to have the first week over with. There will be endless practicing and lots of mistakes to come, but I don't think I shall be as nervous as I was last week.

As for my new job adventure. I saw my very first patient yesterday and......woowho! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was about ten times as scared to see this patient as I was to play the piano Sunday if that gives you any idea of my anxiety level the last few weeks. However, I was able to pull it together and be as professional as my completely inexperienced self could be (which is code for faking it really good) and the session went relatively well. Like the piano, there is a lot of studying in my future (in addition to the hours and hours spent already), but I'm excited to learn some new things along the way, as long as I don't end up in an anxiety-induced coma that lands me in the loony bin. I will survive.

Now that these two events are over I'm...

RELIEVED
Breathing more slowly
Still stressed because I've only just begun
Thankful and...
Ready to sell 2 kids to the highest bidder because, well... they are driving me crazy! Mean, I know. But it has to be said if I'm truly expressing my feelings here.

Old Post

I'm really motivated to keep my blog updated but I can't find my camera to download pictures. I knew I should have reacted when I heard Kara talking about a "camwa" yesterday. Now she has probably hidden it next to one of Colby's stashes of cereal in a mysterious place in the house.

I was looking over some of my posts that were never published and I ran across one that I wrote about Kara when she was around 9 months. I guess I never finished editing it and forgot about it, but I thought it was fun to read about all the things she was doing at that age. I can't believe how much of it I've already forgotten. So, in place of a recent event, here's one from the past about my little girly.

Our Summer

I was horrible at blogging our summer activities so I'm going to wrap them all into one big, giant post. So here goes...in no particular order

THE CABIN

Jones Hole

Flying the kites that grandma gave the kids

Colby and Wesley (Colby's cousin) playing with their new trucks (also given by grandma) and their pirate hats

Kara soaking up the lake

RICHINS' 24TH OF JULY EXTRAVAGANZA + SLEEPOVER

Barbecue

Water kick ball

Colby playing "put the ring on the coke bottle" one of the several games Grandpa Richins invented just for this holiday event. Other games included rope bowling, a giant pin-ball machine a cake walk and...I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

Kara fishing for her prize

PRIMARY PIONEER PARTY

Colby with is friend Dherady. I think he got beat by a girl.

MAGICIAN AT THE LIBRARY

I caught Colby and Kara holding hands while watching the magician

LIBERTY PARK

Maybe I shouldn't have let Kara drink from the fire-hydrant water fountain

TRACY AVIARY

SOCCER

Colby and his soccer team, the Sharks. This is his first year.

It's been so fun watching Colby run as fast as he can to get to the ball.

STATE FAIR

Riding one of the way overpriced, super fun fair rides

They had the cutest little section of the fair devoted to small kids. They got to pretend like they were on a farm by filling their baskets full of produce, plant seeds, dig up vegetables, ride mini tractors, brush the sheep, milk the cow, etc. After they turned in all the things they collected in their baskets, they were given play money that they got to spend on something real, like a granola bar. They loved it.

OUR GARDEN

We planted 6 tomatoe plants this year and had more tomatoes than we knew what do with. We canned 3 batches of salsa and 4 batches of marina sauce. I kinda can't even look at a tomatoe yet without wanting to puke.

We actually got corn from our corn stalks this year. They were little tiny ears, but they were yummy.

We also got to can peaches, green beans and plum sauce this year. Canning actually became addicting for a few weeks there. I wanted to can everything I could get my hands on.

PINEVIEW

4TH OF JULY

Fighting for candy during the parade

Cotton candy. I think Kara found her new favorite treat

Sirens. Loud and annoying.

Real Salt Lake game and fireworks on the 3rd. Thanks Dave!

Instead of hauling everyone to the Kaysville chuck wagon breakfast on the morning of the 4th, we decided to have one ourselves at Katrina's house with all of the Snow family. Of course the spread was magnificient.

Holy cow, that took a long time. I promise to never get this behind again.
