Happy Birthday Colby!

Today, Colby turns 7 years old!

Wow. It's starting to feel like my little kid's not so little any more.

His big day was filled with favorite meals, bowling, a family party and friends over for a late night. Here are some of his favorite things.

Greetings from Korea!

This place is crazy...and awesome!

The food is...not good. Obviously this is a one-sided perspective

Not all the food is bad. I discovered these little gems in a subway station.

I've had a cold that has kicked my butt so Cam's done some sight seeing alone while I've stayed in bed, but other than that, we're having a great time. Did I mention this place is crazy? Crazy in a good way.

We just slept nearly 12 hours and now we're off to Etaywon to go shopping!

Ty is 2!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TY!

Our little man is two!. Here are few things about Ty-

He's pretty into Elmo right now. I usually turn on Sesame Street when I get into the shower and then plop him down on my bed so he'll stay occupied. Almost every time I plop him down, he pats his little hand on the bed next to him because he wants me to sit next to him. I love it.

He is the cutest little talker. Everyday, he is cracking us up and blowing us away with the things that come from his mouth. Today I called out his name and before I knew it, he was right by my side looking up at me saying, "vut mom?" (what mom?)

He is a little songbird like his sister. This started really young when he used to sing like Ariel. Now he tries to sing everything, including his ABCs.

He LOVES to play outside. Lucky for me, he recently figured out how to open our front door making it a lot easier for him to escape.

He is very loving. He loves to give kisses and huggies.

He is definitely your typical 2-year-old. He throws huge fits for no reason, is trying to give up his naps and wants to do everything by himself.

Ty brings us the purest joy into our house, every single day. We love you Ty!

April Fools Day

I've changed my ways.

I'm not ready to let April Fools day go just yet,

but I decided to play some "fun" and "cute" tricks this year.

Centered around food.

Looks good, eh? That's a chocolate dipped bouillon cube. Yummy. Both Colby and Cameron fell for that one and both didn't realize it was trick. They just thought it was a really disgusting chocolate and ran to spit it out.

These are meatloaf cupcakes with mashed-potato frosting and paprika sprinkles. We took my mom out for her birthday and this was our lovely dessert. Well...it would have been if my SIL didn't study the frosting and figure out it was mashed potatoes... Thanks a lot Elisha!

I also made those for the kids for dinner along with lemon jello in their drink cups.

I sent Colby to school with a ketchup-filled donut in his lunch. And then when we he got home we played the same trick on Kara, Ty and Colby's buddy Owen.

But the ketchup didn't stop Kara or Owen from polishing off the entire donut. Kara kept saying "Ewwwww" as she stuck her finger in the ketchup and licked it off.

Ty ate as much as he could around the ketchup and then ditched the rest.

So my tricks were a little more tame this year and none of them backfired, which was the goal.

Colby and Kara Quotes

Ty walked into Kara's room as she was getting dressed. Kara told Ty to close his eyes and Ty said, "No! Eyes! Anna!" (Anna is what Ty calls Kara-March 2011)

Ty's latest: "down-me" (at least 50 times a day. It means he wants up on his chair, down from his chair, help down the stairs, for me to pick him up, for me to put him down...), "apple-now" (means apple. He puts the word "now" at the end of almost everything), "keekoo-now" (means cookie), "donu" (sounds like donut and means candy),"no" (very emphatically and to almost everything I say), "mil" (means milk and any other liquid drink), "nee-nee" (means blankie), "daydoo" (thank-you). These are just the most popular words among his ever-growing vocabulary. He can repeat anything you tell him to repeat and he has just started combining 2 words consistently the last few weeks. If Kara really wants to be persuasive, she will follow a request or command with, "my daddy be so mad." For example, if she is trying to tell me to not touch her sleeping baby, she'll say, "Don't touch my baby, she sleeping. My daddy be so mad. Don't touch my baby." The wrath of Cameron is pretty scary so I usually obey when I hear that threat.

Kara's latest phrase of choice is "booby head." She calls Colby a booby head at least 10 times a day and "I want my daddy" was once quickly followed by, "daddy booby head." I am proud to say she has not yet labeled me a booby head.

Kara is really into tatlling lately. When I found her in the kitchen with 2 decks of cards scattered across the floor, she pointed to the mess while jabbering something that ended in "Grandpa." Poor Grandpa is getting blamed for messes now.
I heard Kara calling/whining for me and when I went to get her she said, "Colby. I mad!" with the angriest look ever. It was so hilarious to hear that come out of her mouth. (April 2008)
