Pineview Camp-out

Last week we spent 2 1/2 days camping and boating at Pineview Reservoir. This has turned out to be sort-of an annual tradition for the snow family thanks to Mark having a boat. If you knew my family at all growing up, it may sound surprising that we've chosen to make camping and water sports our annual activity of choice. We'll just say that my dad is a good sport for agreeing to spend half the day there with little or no complaining at all. Here are a few things I'll remember about this trip.
1. I will think twice about packing up by myself for 2 adults and 2 very small children to camp for 2 nights.
2. Getting stung by a bee didn't keep Colby from trapping one in a tent and jumping up and down to try and touch it.
3. Jumping into the cold Pineview water really is worth if if you get to ski on glass. Every year I am presented with the same internal struggle- is skiing worth the freezing water temps?
4. Kara really is an angel baby. She slept in her pack-and-play inside the tent like she was right at home.
5. Doughies aren't good without the butter.
6. Stef is a trooper for sleeping in our tent even though I couldn't manage to keep my children from smelling, well, very unpleasant.
7. Playing Big Boodie with my nephews is a nice way to spend a few hours.

Play Group

This is Colby's first play group that was set up about 6 months ago. One of the cute girls is moving this weekend which gave us a good reason to snap a few pictures. These four kids are so dang cute when they get together and look forward to playing at each other's houses every Thursday.
Colby went from his typical shy and reserved self for about the first month, to asking on a regular basis about his "friends" and even including them in his prayers!
It has turned out to be a huge success for all, especially us moms. Each child can now leave their mom without any tears, we've all seen our children grow socially and when it wasn't our turn to host, we got 2 full hours to run errands or do whatever became easier to accomplish without a toddler.
Colby's going to miss his friend that is moving on to new adventures and hopefully she'll miss him, even if he was responsible for a huge goose-egg on her forehead - good thing toddlers are so good at forgiving and forgetting!
